Children’s Home in Kusunti

Our children’s home has been a home for five to ten children since 2008. Our children come from poor backgrounds and/or from highly disturbed families. Some are orphans, others still have a parent. In the meantime, the children have turned into young adults and some of our protégés have already left again. Rajin, Supriya, Bikesh and Anic live with their relatives again and some of them still support for their further education. The children are assigned to us by the Child Welfare Council.

The children/young adults are looked after and accompanied by Laxmi and her husband BK.

In our children’s home in Kusunti live currently (2022) five protégés. Laxmi, her husband BK and their son Suryansh also live in Kusunti. By now, most children have reached teenage age and some have already started their studies.

We do not aim to take in any more children, but rather let the commitment in the children’s home slowly run out.

  • Party with Gabrielle & Joachim

Our long-standing, very committed supporter Gabrielle and her husband Joachim were finally able to travel to Nepal again in February. Of course, the two organized a small party for La Dhoka with special food, music and dance. Our teenagers especially enjoyed the occasion and nibbled blissfully through the burger dreamland. Thank you dear Gabrielle &…

  • Dengue fever in Kusunti

In early September, we received a disturbing message from Kathmandu “Children are sick,” Laxmi wrote. For the time being, the symptoms (fatigue, temperature) affected “only” Alisha and Priya. Laxmi took them to the hospital for a check-up and after various blood tests, the somewhat surprising diagnosis of dengue fever was made. It soon became clear…

  • The La Dhokas in July 2022

There was just enough time for a small interview with our kids & teens before the onward journey of Louie and Simone in July 2022:

  • A new girl in Kusunti

The Child Welfare Office has been urging us to do so for a long time: We have space and a good place and on top of everything not the required 10 children in our children’s home in Kusunti. Therefore, this year in June we were assigned another girl: Sujata is 10 years old and, like…

  • After ten months in Kathmandu

On May 30, 2022, Louie and Simone arrive in Kathmandu with their “Winterthur bicycles” after ten months of travel! They have covered almost 12,000 kilometres in 14 countries to achieve this (first) goal. On their blog http://www.outcycling.ch and the Instagram channel outcycling21 they report in detail about this journey. Outcycling was also “kicking for La…
